Science meets Magic – Neuromentalist Meets Scientist

The opening of “Spätschicht” – the summer event series for adults in the park – kicks off with the interactive stage show “Science meets Magic”, full of experiments, illusions, wonder, and fun. Winterthur’s neuromentalist and magician Pad Alexander uses sleight of hand, body language, and his knowledge of human psychology to create suspenseful magical effects. Our scientific collaborator Marco Miranda views the magic of the human brain through the lens of a researcher. Experience a humorous exchange between science and mental magic. The two protagonists harmonise enchantingly on stage, delivering an entertaining and educational show where science and art blend in magical ways.

About Marco Miranda

PhD in Philosophy, Astrophysics and Cosmology. Marco has worked at Technorama for many years. His area of expertise includes exhibit and design concept development. He is a creator and performer of science shows, a trainer for teachers, a science educator, and a consultant for other museums. Marco also regularly appears on stage at “In Vino Scientia” at the Casinotheater Winterthur. He says: “Sometimes I’m a physicist, sometimes a researcher and developer, sometimes an actor and musician – and most of the time, I’m all of that at once.”

About Pad Alexander

What began with a magic kit he received for his 8th birthday has grown into a full-fledged magical show. For him, illusion is more than just a simple trick. “To make an illusion truly work for the audience, knowing a trick isn’t enough,” he says. Controlled (body) language, dexterity, and in-depth knowledge of human psychology – these are the ingredients that make all the difference. The result: awe and amazement when reality and illusion begin to blur.
