Temporary Exhibition "Measuring Man"
Discover your body and your senses
In this special exhibition, we focus our attention on what concerns us most – ourselves! There are scarcely any experiments which fascinate us more than those where we discover something about our own body.
In surprising and absorbing ways you can measure your pulse, heartbeat, lung volume, visual acuity, temperature, reaction time and many other physiological and anatomical characteristics. In addition, you can test special abilities of your eyes, ears and sense of touch.
Measuring man (both meanings) is a fully hands-on (and body-on) exhibition – no abstract numbers or medical measuring equipment, but a novel set of experiments providing a fascinating encounter with bodily phenomena in a totally new and unusual way.
There are about 30 different experiments which offer broadly two different sorts of measurements. Firstly, those where you obtain some bodily index concerned with human anatomy, physiology, neurology or biomechanics and through this, you gain insight into your own body. Then there are experiments which relate to how you use your senses to experience (and measure) the world, and these will help you to get to know them better. Test yourself, and you may be astonished at what the experiments tell you.
X-ray presentations (in German) lasting about 15 minutes are given daily at 11am and 3.15pm.
There is no extra charge for entry to the “Measuring Man” special exhibition.
The exhibition "Measuring Man" proved a big succes. Therefore, it will be extended and remain part of our program!
We extend our thanks to the main sponsors of the special exhibition:
