Particle tracks - “cloud trails”

Atomic (and sub-atomic) particles from
space and from various radioactive processes
on earth leave short-lasting “vapour
trails” behind them in the cloud chamber.
This is because the fast-moving particles
ionize atoms in the air in the chamber and
droplets condense on these ions, making
the particles’ paths visible.
